Good news - the time available for consultation on the Bryn Llywelyn
'wind farm' has been extended to February 23rd. The Telegraph blog has
reported that Civil Engineers believe some turbine concrete bases are
showing signs of cracking. Will watch this site with intererest.
News from Ontario, Canada that there is evidence of a clash between
turbines and tourism. Also that wind turbines cause ill health.
Watch out for a public meeting in January to bring local people up to date

Are Subsidies Worth It? Quotes from National Audit Office
1. "Onshore wind is very significantly oversubsidised" (National Audit Office) "The buyout price of £15 per megawatt would be sufficient to support most projects and thus we can assume that the subsidy stream is in excess of needs by at least 33%"
2."The Renewables obligation is a very expensive way to save CO2"
3."The Renewables obligation is faulty in so far as it does not distinguish between technologies of varying merits"
The above is backed by the renewable energy foundation, for further info see NOWAP website http://www.nowap.co.uk/page7.html

Friends of the Earth
A colleague tells me that F.|O.E. don't automatically support windfarms, especially if they are in an inappropriate position. I would be nice to get clarification from F.O.E on this matter
